JASON HARTLEY GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Jason has been involved in the arts since the age of 13 as a drummer and guitarist. In his early 20’s he played in bands and toured around various parts of the country. It was during this time that he began learning design programs for simple things in the beginning such as show flyers and even tour videos that would lead to his current career. After it was all said and done, complete with the long hair and some embarrassing pictures to prove it, it was then time to get back into school and pursue an education.
Jason began professionally working in the industry in 2009 as a designer for a t-shirt and design shop in his hometown. This humble beginning led to the creation of a new position within the company to manage their newest store. During this time, Jason enrolled at Austin Peay State University (APSU) originally as a Psychology student, but as fate would have it, employees of the university noticed his design talents. This led to not only a change in majors from Psychology to Communications, but also several on-campus jobs where design was the centerpiece of his work. He designed posters for nearly every event on campus between 2012 and 2014 including Homecoming, major concerts and orientation weekend materials. As if his time wasn’t full enough, he decided to start his very own design business – 3 Mile Media – during his senior year at APSU that continues to this day. Upon graduation he accepted a job at Alpha Tau Omega National Fraternity as the Director of Communications during the biggest year in the company’s history – the 150th Year Celebration. Experience in this occupation was fast, frantic and well-varied. Jason designed programs for the celebration, created a new website, managed the department, oversaw large scale stage production, wrote press releases, refreshed logo designs, curated 3D video graphics, and the list goes on. He now manages his design business full time out of Nashville, TN and continues to use his varied skill set between graphic design, video editing, web design among many other ongoing projects. Since 2016, he has been with the UK-based company, WhatCulture.com as one of their Viral Video Editors. The web entertainment company boasts nearly 3,000,000 subscribers between their YouTube channels in which his videos are posted weekly.
